Please don't be too harsh with me. I'm still a newbie with these things as well.
Is there a way to do any of these? It would prove to be useful for websites like this wiki. And of course, they will be used for good purposes. I know that with websites, you can right click on the website background and inspect the page. It would give you access to links that show images, audio, and videos. With games that you've downloaded, you can simply look inside the files. For a game like Kanpani Girls, how would you do this? I've been inspecting the page, but it only gives me the actual player for the game, not any of the files needed.
By using your browser's built-in tools. For example,
Would you happen to know where to search after that? If it's the "search for a picture format" kind of response, I'll just go and check thoroughly.
With it open, browsing inside a game will catch most if not all resources that the game loads. You can see them in the list, and use the filters available. But the image filter doesn't always work for images in some games, so you have to leave it on "all" or someties "other" will work.
I would say you should review this thread before making a decision on working on this stuff.
Like a thoughtful person should, I have indeed checked the previous forums/threads. I do see that Tunafish76 has taken responsibility of gathering the materials and is formulating a base template for future pages. If I hadn't checked a second time, I wouldn't have found the other wiki page located in battle-harem. I'm still a bit new to this community, so I wouldn't have known. But you know, I still want to help on this wiki as well. Because c'mon, this page is the first one that pops up when you Google "Kanpani Girls". If Tunafish76 has this sorted out, I'll just do my best to support the upcoming events however and whenever they will appear. My question has been answered and I believe this question is done. Thank you guys for all your hard work.
Actually, I've moved on to the other Kanpani Wiki (reasons for doing so are in the thread that was linked above); however, if you'd like, I have all of the ripped character CGs in a .zip file. This should be the most complete collection that's out there at the moment (character ID list included).
Currently still working on ripping audio, but it has VERY low priority until either of the Wikis forms a template or something to put the sound files into, so for now that's been put on hiatus.
Thanks for the images Tunafish76! You're really the best! I can see why you've moved since the other wiki is more developed. It's a shame that it isn't one of the first links that show up when you Google "Kanpani Girls". I hope that these wiki pages will be better looking in the coming months. All I can do now is to wish you the best that'll come since you're going out of your way to help give us lots of information and a standard for pages.
Not a problem! And yeah, after talking about it with a couple of others, we figured it would be best to just contribute to the other Wiki since it's more developed as opposed to "reinventing the wheel." Only thing we can really do regarding the link placement is just use the Wiki more and more so that Google will move it up in the search rankings.
More work is needed to get it finished of course, but before we finished, we had decided to change Wikis. You're all welcome to have a go at it (not that we have any say in the matter anyways, this is a Wiki after all). If you need any game resources or anything else, feel free to ask. :)
Also, a little test run of the voice files can be found here (I believe the info on this page needs to be updated as we've determined more of the voice triggers, but the page was created solely for the purpose of testing of having character quotes on the Wiki—not really meant for anything else).
Wikia will be incredibly difficult to beat in search rankings. This site has immense authority compared to the other.
Regardless, just show first in raking isn't enough of a factor for me to choose this one. At this point in time, the other one is far more developed, and is much more in depth. It also gets linked to a lot from within the official chatango. It may never show up first in search rank, but that means little when everyone chooses to visit it over this one for the fact it is better overall, and has the info they are searching for.
All we can really do is make it more and more complete to where it is ranking for far more search terms related to the game than this one.
Well for people who actually know about that Wiki they'll choose it over this one almost every time, but when I had just started playing, I was completely ignorant of the existence of the other Wiki and would have remained as such had no one told me about it.
So yeah, the other big thing will be to get it's rankings up through search terms, but I think we also need to find a way to reach out to the newer players who are just going to click the first link they see. Especially since (at least for me), even the Kantai Collection Wiki is higher on the search rankings. :/
But I suppose this will just be something that will just have to be resolved through time (by as you said, making the wiki more complete).
What do you think?
